Da gennaio 2024 a dicembre 2026, l’Università degli Studi di Firenze lavora a un progetto europeo nell’ambito del programma Jean Monnet-Modules.
Il team di ricerca dell’Università degli Studi di Firenze è guidato dalla Prof.ssa Giulia Mannucci, in collaborazione con il Prof. Leonardo Ferrara e il Dott. Ippolito Piazza.
Il progetto, che ha contenuto didattico, ha l’ambizione di studiare lo sport attraverso un approccio olistico: lo sport quale fenomeno economico, quale “medicina” per una serie di patologie, lo sport come lavoro e come intrattenimento, ma anche lo sport come strumento di inclusione e veicolo per il superamento delle disuguaglianze (per le donne, per gli immigrati, per i disabili, per i minori in situazioni di disagio).
Sporting cerca di raggiungere questo obiettivo impartendo un insegnamento facoltativo di Diritto dello sport nella Scuola di Giurisprudenza in collaborazione con la Scuola di scienze della salute umana, durante il quale gli studenti potranno approfondire (anche attraverso seminari con esperti del settore) le diverse declinazioni del fenomeno sportivo.

Sport is a powerful tool for inclusion and, at the same time, a significant industry in the European economy. Nevertheless, academic teaching and literature often consider these dimensions separately. SPORTING aims at promoting a holistic approach in teaching Sports Law, providing courses and seminars which encompass the social, economic and democratic impact of sport. The project also intends to raise awareness on the role of the EU in sport policies and to deepen the impact of European law on national sport systems.
The primary goal of the project is to promote the delivery of an undergraduate course on Sports Law within the School of Law of the University of Florence and a series of seminars devoted to sport and inclusion, sport and economy, sport and democracy. The undergraduate course is designed to provide a basic background in Sports Law, enriching the educational programme of the applicant institution. The series of seminars, on the other hand, aim to explore the role of sport and European policies through the involvement of experts and stakeholders. Characterized by the participation of leading practitioners, policy makers and scholars, SPORTING lectures and seminars will be educational events as well as a stage for a dialogue on the needs for sport policies improvement.
The project is expected to involve students attending both the School of Law and other academic programmes, in order to increase awareness of the multidisciplinary nature of sport, with a focus on its relevance to inclusion and the promotion of EU values.
